Lupus Profundus (Panniculitis)

Does anyone have or know anything about lupus profundus (panniculitis), a cutaneous (skin-related) form of lupus? I believe I have it in addition to SLE, as I have developed these fist-sized splotchy areas of what looks like bruising but is actually permanent, bumpy scarring (I think). I gather from what I've read online that it results from lupus attacking the fat cells, destroying them and leaving behind discolored, dented scars. If anyone can offer any info I would really appreciate it. My rheumy doesn't seem to know about it. I am thinking I should see a dermatologist. I would love to find someone with the same issue. Thank you!

You should see the dermatologist that specializes in discoid . Many dermy's don't understand it. I have it and it sounds like what you are describing. The first dermy I went to told me I had rosatia and gave me the worst meds he could. This pissed off the dermy I eventually got and she called him and read him the riot act. Because he ended up scarring me for life. (on my face!) She said the majority of dermy's will never see this and it is important to have one that specializes in Lupus. Good luck

I might have to go to a dermatologist because my checks have a light red,and they are bumpy
i know iwas tested2006and i had a negative result for lupus so iwonder what it is
