In Severe Pain

I got up this morning, and the pain was so severe. I haven't felt pain so bad in a long time. I took my meds, and they didn't seem to make a difference at all. This makes me so tired to have to try and move. I know there's going to be pain, and I don't want to move. I just want to cry. My Dr. said that the pain med's I'm on now are what I'm supposed to take. Is there anyone that has anything better than Hydrocodone, and Percocect? I'd appreciate any help anyone could give me. Thanks ahead in advance.

I am taking percocet and the pain patch fentenyl(which I heard is dangerous). The pain patch seems to help some tho. I use to be on both of the same meds you are on but they seem to have conflicting issues and after a while started hurting my kidneys and liver so I can't take them together anymore. Sorry you are in alot of pain and I hope you can find some comfort soon. Tina

Thanks for asking to be my friend! I also have chronic pain. I have RA and Lupus both. I was dx with Ra at 27 and SLE at 37. I am a disabled nurse. I had to stop working 5 yrs ago.

I have been on several pain meds over the past 5 yrs. I started with Vicodin and went to Oxycontin, then the Dduragesic patch with Percocett as my breakthrough med. When that stopped working after two years, I went on Kadian. I have not even had a dose change in over two years. It holds my pain for a good 9 hrs and then I have Vicodin for breakthrough. Kadian is a long acting Morphine but it doesn't make me goofy. In fact with my pain under control, I can think more clearly and actually get things done! I am on 200 mg twice a day which is a high dose, but that's what I needed going from the highest dose of Duragesic (100 mcg).

I have a very good doctor who believes that pain should be controlled , even if it means Morphine. I am so grateful for that. There are still days(and nights) when the pain is bad. The weather in the Northeast is brutal for these kinds of pain conditions! Once the temps level out I will be better. At night I have to sleep sitting up because my hips hurt. Sometimes, even with powerful pain meds, the pain wins. But overall, I wouldn't be able to do what I do without it!!

I WENT THROUGH THAT A COUPLE OF YEARS AGO! IT IS REALLY TOUGH AND FRUSTRATING TO NOT GET ANY RELIEF AND KNOW YOU HAVE THE REST OF THE DAY AHEAD OF YOU. IT MAKES ME CRY AND WANT TO JUST GET BACK IN BED. I HAVE TROUBLE METABOLIZING MEDS TO FAST. MY DR SENT ME TO A PAIN SPECIALIST, HE HAS HELPED ME ALOT OVER THE LAST COUPLE OF YEARS. THERE ARE DIFF PAIN MEDS THAT GO INTO YOUR SYSTEM DIFFERENT. SOME USE YOUR LIVER AND SOME DONT. HOPE IM MAKING SOME SENSE HERE. MY DR PUT ME ON THE FENTANYL POPS OR PATCHES. THE POPS ARE USED FOR CANCER PATIENTS USUALLY, BUT THEY GO IN THE CHEEK OF YOUR MOUTH AND THEY DISSOLVE AND GO STRAIGHT TO YOUR BLOOD STREAM. NOW IM NOT SAYING THAT IS WHAT YOU SHOULD GET, BUT THAT PARTICULAR ONE HAS HELPED ME. MAYBE YOU SHOULD SEEEK OUT A PAIN SPECIALIST. THEY AT LEAST UNDERSTAND THE PAIN, AND SEE OTHERS IN THE SAME BOAT. I HOPE THIS HELPS YOU SOME. FEEL BETTER, AND HOPE YOUR DAY IS A GOOD ONE TODAY!

First of all I want to say I hope you are feeling better, but I know how that goes we all have good and bad days and good and bad pain moments. I want to say your dog is beautiful. My hybrid Wolf-Husky passed away last year and the hole in my heart missing him. He was wonderful and was better then any doctor for bedside manner :) ha . Bianca my little Pom is my pain medicine and she has been put through the tests. LOL Best wishes!
