Butterfly Kimberly taking Methotrexate

Hi everyone,

I just wanted everyone to know that Kim has started taking Methotrexate this past Wednesday. Talking with her today (Friday), she says that she is very tired. Some of her other medication doses have also changed. She figures with all these changes her body has to adjust. She sends her love to everyone and hopes to be back on here soon.

Hi Dad, I haven't talked with Kimberly in a verylong time. Please pass on to her that I've missed her terribly and look forward to chatting with her again. I also started MTX this past week for the second time. Please also tell her to hang in there, it will help, we'll get through this.

Sorry I haven't been here in some time. So you all know I started the chemo, methotrexate, almost 2 weeks ago (I take it once a week) and I didn't feel good at all the first week when I started it. Then this past week I was ok because the doc called in an anti-nausea pill. So I took one the night before, and felt just ok on the next day when I took mtx (methotrexate). But yesterday (Sat April 25), it was real hot and sunny here. I wasn't out in it much, it felt too hot. And I left ALL the windows in my apartment open last night. I woke up around 9am-ish this morning and on the news it said it was 78 already! I am so happy the weather is nice finally, BUT I think this heat and the chemo are making me feel sick and icky....I hate it, because I love to be outside in this weather!!

I am getting to read the replies. I should've waited before writing this..LOL...But has anyone felt more sick in the sun and/or heat? The first week, the 2nd & 3rd day after taking it (I chose Wednesdays) were terrible! I felt SO nauseas, and then when it was gone, I was starving. So I'd eat and eat, sit down and be fine until I got up again. Then the nausea started all over. And it kept going around like that for those 2 bad days. That's why I called about the nausea medicine. My rheumy told me too that it was a-typical for that to happen, but called it in anyway. Then I realized that it was probably a mix of a lot of things. Not just the mtx alone. She put me back to 400mg of plaquenil (that I had been since diagnosed in '97, and for some reason my last idiot rheumy decided to put me at 300mg....one every other night, two every other), 10mg of mtx, folic acid, and vitamin D. So I think the whole mix of everything on the same day thru me off. But this week, with the heat and sun...what do you think????


Other than that, I am really hopeful. I read I think Kiara's forum that someone has been on it and it helped their fatigue. I REALLY want that to happen for me. I hate the fatigue, and I'm so tired of being tired....ggrrrrr!! hahaha

So how are all of you doing on it so far??? I think I started about a month or two after Lesley and Kiara.....

My Prayers are with Kim...I really hope she is feeling better soon! Pass this along to her... I am just about to start Rituxan...UGH...So not looking forward to it. They keep putting it on hold, because I can't seem to shake this Darn Pnumonia...Have to 100% healthy to start rituxan....

Ooops! forgot to ask, are u taking 10mg? pill? I'm injecting myself, 25mgs or 1ml! it makes me nauseas at first; the day I take it and the day after I feel so so so sooooooo tired that I sleep the days away! But I can say it has helped me a bit! I think I'm at the highest dose for us, and I hope she wont increase it! luv u guys alot!!
